Single-row deep groove ball bearings with a shield or seal
Single-row deep groove ball bearings with a shield or seal can carry the same loads as standard open single-row deep groove ball bearings. Unlike them, however, they contain a shield or seal. This protects the inner space of the bearing and prevents the penetration of dirt into the bearing. Sealed bearings (-RS or 2RS) provide protection of the inner bearing space better than shielded bearings (-Z or -2Z). Due to the contact between the sealing lip and the inner ring of the bearing, the inner space of the bearing is better protected; on the other hand, these bearings can be operated at lower speeds. Shielded bearings do not come into contact between shield and inner ring and the bearings reach the same reference speed as open single-row deep groove ball bearings. Sealed and shielded bearings are filled with a grease designed for lifetime bearing lubrication. For design engineers
