Product geometry validation with one look? In 21st century it is a reality.
Nowadays many products have their digital counterparts. This digital model of reality contains useful information for planning, manufacturing, analysis, design etc. It is a collection of data used in the parallel digital environment for describing how product parameters such as mechanical design, material and geometry data can interface and for proofing a manufactured geometry.
The technological center of the ZKL Group uses a new semi-automatic ATOS Q device for the metrology of shapely complex bearing parts such as bearing cages. ATOS Q is developed for industrial use, but it can collect and provide fully traceable measurement results even in difficult conditions or in a non-laboratory environment. The body of the scanner is protected against dust and water which makes it usable also in the proximity of manufacturing machines.
Scanned data are used for deviation mapping compared to CAD ideal geometry. With just one look users can see if the scanned part is manufactured according to design´s documentation. The scanned data are used for validating the interactions of the part´s dimensional and geometric tolerances. Visual data mapping is user friendly method for technical post-processing. This measuring process helps to eliminate misinterpretation of results obtained using conventional measurement methods. ATOS Q speeds up development processes and improves the effectivity of control processes while manufacturing.
ATOS Q is a useful device for ZKL research and development projects as also for measurements and analyses for our customers.
